Miodrag Kostić, the founder of MK Group, has been posthumously awarded the Order of Karađorđe’s Star of the First Degree for his exceptional contribution to the establishment of the Miodrag Kostić Foundation – the Palace of Science and the creation of an innovative center for the development of education, science, and support for young talents in the Republic of Serbia. The order was presented to his son, Aleksandar Kostić, the president of MK Group, at the Palace of Serbia, on the occasion of Sretenje – the Day of Statehood of Serbia.
Miodrag Kostić will be remembered as a businessman and philanthropist who set new standards in business and social responsibility. He personally initiated and monitored a large number of socially responsible activities. By founding the Miodrag Kostić Foundation and opening the Palace of Science in Belgrade, he revived the forgotten tradition of philanthropy in Serbia and provided the best conditions for the development of future generations and the scientific and technological advancement of Serbia. Every year, he allocated more than one million euros for socially responsible activities, and the Miodrag Kostić Foundation left a significant mark, representing a philanthropic contribution worth over 25 million euros.
The Order of Karađorđe’s Star is awarded by the decree of the President of the Republic of Serbia, and this year, decorations were presented to deserving individuals and institutions on the occasion of the Day of Statehood of Serbia.
