Belgrade, 10 October 2024 – Miodrag and Aleksandar Kostić are this year’s winners of the ″ Acknowledgement of Kindness″, which was awarded to them by the Serbian Philanthropic Forum on the occasion of the seventh National Day of Giving, at an event organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. The National Day of Giving is an event that celebrates philanthropy, solidarity and the culture of giving in our society, and this year’s gathering was dedicated to organizations that focus on providing support to young people.
Miodrag Kostić, the president and founder of MK Group, is recognized by the public as one of the most successful Serbian businessmen who has expanded his business beyond the borders of our country and enjoys an international reputation. His son Aleksandar Kostić, Vice President of MK Group and AEC banking group, who achieved great success in a short time, continued on his path. In addition to business success, they are also known for their regular philanthropic donations and socially responsible activities aimed at supporting children, youth and families, with a special focus on education. In the past five years alone, they allocated over five million euros for social responsibility. During the previous two years, they made regular annual donations to maternity hospitals and kindergartens in the Adria region, and this year they allocated 350,000 euros for student halls in Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Slovenia. The tradition and continuity of socially responsible activities will be continued by MK Group, a company that has pledged to invest another five million euros for CSR activities in the next five years.
The reason for receiving the ″ Acknowledgement of Kindness″ is certainly the crown of philanthropic activity, which is the establishment of the Miodrag Kostić Endowment. Miodrag Kostić founded the endowment that bears his name, the future Palace of Science, with the desire to leave lasting value to the peoples of this area. The Palace of Science is a capital philanthropic gift of 25 million euros, and at the end of the year it will open its doors in the center of Belgrade for all visitors. It will be the first center for research and popularization of science, which will provide young scientists from Serbia and the region with the best conditions for development, learning and training. This is the second endowment that Miodrag Kostić founded, after in 2013 he handed over his family house in Novi Sad, as the “Endowment of the Kostić Family”, to the “Institute for Health Care, Children and Youth of Vojvodina” for the needs of more humane treatment in cooperation with the association NURDOR.
The ” Acknowledgement of Kindness” honors Miodrag and Aleksandar Kostić on the occasion of their immeasurable contribution to the creation of positive changes that affect the construction of a society in which tolerance, understanding, support, empathy, kindness, solidarity, respect and responsibility are nurtured.
