29/06/2016 – The company MK Group has signed a preliminary agreement on strategic partnership with Agrana AG from Austria. The company Agrana is a regional leader in the production of sugar, a part of the largest producer of sugar in Europe, the German SUEDZUCKER AG.
In 2017, the European Union will introduce a radical reform measures in the sugar industry – the abolition of quotas. This will lead to significant changes and only the most productive European manufacturers will have perspective. Thus, the company Sunoko, a member of MK Group, sees their future with the largest manufacturer in Europe.
This partnership will benefit producers of sugar beet in Serbia, because it will bring the latest know-how that will enable higher yields of our manufacturers, as well as allow future sustainability and more certain future for Serbian sugar beet producers. Moreover, Sunoko will increase production and exports of Serbian sugar factories.
SUNOKO is a leading producer of sugar in Southeast Europe with sugar factories in Vrbas, Pećinci and Kovačica. Annual production is around 300,000 tons.

In the sugar business segment, besides Austria, AGRANA operates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. During the last campaign for sugar beet 2015/2016, a total of about 5.4 million tons of sugar beet were processed in about 800,000 tons of sugar.
