MK Agrar company, which is part of MK Group, by the end of 2013th plans to invest four million euros in modern irrigation systems and thus cover an additional 2,200 hectares of arable land. That way, the total area under irrigation system of MK Agrar will be 5,200 hectares. Thanks to this investment it is expected to increase yields range from 25 to 30 percent in regular conditions, while in dry years it will be much higher, and will range from 50 to 60 percent. Irrigation systems are mostly put into operation.
Additional investment in irrigation systems, in the relatively short period of time, Serbia could irrigate 500,000 hectares, instead of the current 50,000 hectares and thus further enhance local agriculture.
