Novi Sad, 17 November 2015 – As part of humanitarian action “Magnet for love”, initiated by MK Group and TDE Services together with the Institute for Health Protection of Children and Youth of Vojvodina from Novi Sad, collecting funds for the purchase of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), related equipment and the first special incubator for MRI diagnosis of premature babies, infants, children and youth, has officially begun. Thanks to this action and the procurement of incubators that can be used in an apparatus for magnetic resonance imaging, the Institute for Health Protection of Children and Youth, will be the first health institution in Serbia that will allow MRI examinations and precise diagnostics of premature infants and newborns.
“Care and assistance to those who need it the most is a part of our daily business. We launched the action “Magnet for love” because we are aware of the fact that the youngest members of our society should not and need not wait on timely diagnostics and treatment, “said Gorana Vuksanović, HR Director of MK Group, adding “I hope that other individuals and companies will recognize the importance of this action, and join it as soon as possible, in order to promptly provide necessary funds for the purchase of these medical apparatuses”.
Purchase of magnetic resonance would make the Institute for Health Protection of Children and Youth of Vojvodin the only children’s health facility on the territory of Vojvodina which owns it. In addition, it would enable about 4,000 MRI scans per year, instead of the current 830. The period of waiting for MRI examinations will be significantly shortened and will reduce the burden of other institutions that perform this service examinations for the Institute.

The Institute for Health Protection of Children and Youth of Vojvodina is an institution that provides health care at the tertiary level of AP Vojvodina. The institution has outstanding achievements in the treatment, and therefore a very small mortality rate of 0,357 per year. Professional staff and procured sophisticated equipment enables these results. Institute still lacks a very important device for the diagnostics, and that is MRI. Until now, children were examined at CC Vojvodina and the Institute of Oncology. Children were required to be transported to examination with doctors and medical technicians in their escort. We appealed to the public and result is this humanitarian action Magnet for the love run by the same foundation, founded by corporate socially responsible companies: MK Group and TDE service. We didn’t accidentally choose to open action on this day “Day of prematurely born infants,” because within this action we are also purchasing a special incubator that allows MRI diagnostics for this vulnerable population. This device is the first such device to be purchased in Serbia “, said prof. Slobodan Grebeldinger, Director of the Institute for Health Protection of Children and Youth of Vojvodina.

Between 6,500 and 8,000 of premature babies are born annually in Serbia, who do not yet have the ability to have MRI diagnostics and some children are waiting for this examination up to 18 months. With magnetic resonance, associated equipment and special incubator, MRI examinations at the Institute for Health Protection of Children and Youth of Vojvodina will be available for five days instead of two days during the week, and for emergencies, even 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, which would significantly contribute to the timely diagnostics and treatment of seriously ill children.
On the occasion of launching fundraising as part of the action “Magnet of love”, video clips were promoted for the first time whose actors were children who participated in the Creative Center CEKOM from Zrenjanin and II grade students of the primary school Vuk Karadzić from Zrenjanin.
