Thanks to a donation in the amount of 100,000 euros, students will start the new academic year in better conditions and completely renovated rooms. The Student Center “Belgrade” provides accommodation for 10,500 students in the capital, and more than 500 students stay in the Student Hall “Slobodan Penezić” alone.
„I am delighted that the students who are accommodated in the Student Hall “Slobodan Penezić” will start the new academic year in completely new and renovated rooms, thanks to MK Group and AIK Bank. Our goal is to provide additional capacities and create good and economically acceptable conditions for housing students. On this path, it is very important and good that we have the support of socially responsible companies, which recognize that caring for young people and improving education and upbringing is the responsibility of all of us. The Ministry of Education will continue to improve the conditions of residence and work in institutions for the accommodation of pupils and students in order to make the conditions for their stay as good as possible”, said prof. Dr. Slavica Đukić Dejanović, Minister of Education of the Republic of Serbia.
The donation to the Student Dormitory “Slobodan Penezić” included the replacement of floors, interior doors and painting works and complete furnishing of student rooms. “We often talk about improving the student standard, which is one of the key goals of the Student Center “Belgrade”, and it is a pleasure that through this project we can see what that really means. I will not be wrong if I say that these rooms are the most beautiful part of our accommodation capacity. This donation made it possible to set even higher standards in the area of student accommodation”, said Goran Minić, Director of the Student Center “Belgrade”.
Students did not hide their joy about the new rooms, and representatives of MK Group and AIK Bank emphasized the importance of investing in young people and education.
„On behalf of AIK Bank and on my own behalf, I would like to thank all partners for the smooth implementation of the project, which provides students, future leaders and important decision makers with quality conditions for studying. Investing in young people is investing in the future. Social responsibility remains a strategic goal of our bank, we will continue to help the local community”, said Petar Jovanović, President of the Executive Board of AIK Bank.
„We are proud that our donation is also the first donation that the “Slobodan Penezić” Student Hall has received since its foundation. This year, we allocated a total of 350,000 euros for student halls in the Adria region, and this regional philanthropic program will cover nearly 6,000 students in Belgrade, Podgorica, Ljubljana and Zagreb. Continuous investment and support of education are one strategic part of our socially responsible business and we want to provide young talents with the best possible conditions for learning and advancement”, said Mihailo Janković, CEO of MK Group.
After successful donations to maternity hospitals and kindergartens throughout the region during the previous two years, MK Group and AIK Bank continue to invest in young generations. Donations to student halls in Montenegro, Slovenia and Croatia will be completed by the end of October.
