This year, MK Group and AIK Banka donated EUR 350,000 to Serbian preschools. Preschool institutions in Vrbas, Bečej, Pećinci, Kovačica, Novi Sad, Niš, Raška and Golubac received funds for renovation and new equipment. Children are now staying in nicer and more imaginative surroundings thanks to donations made for the improvement of these preschool institutions.
Prof. Slavica Đukić Dejanović, MD, PhD, the Minister of Education in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, was also present at the occasion marking the conclusion of donations to preschools in Serbia. The Ministry of Education provided support during the process of selection of preschool institutions to receive funds, focusing on municipalities in which MK Group has its business operations.
The Minister of Education, Prof. Slavica Đukić Dejanović, MD, PhD, mentioned that MK Group and AIK Banka, two socially conscious corporations, have supported eight preschools, including “Boško Buha” in Vrbas. “The Serbian Ministry of Education has been building and refurbishing preschool facilities in recent years. The Ministry’s objective is to expand preschool capacity in order to reach as many children as possible with pre-school education,” she stated. She also mentioned that increasing the accessibility, quality, and equality of preschool education is one of the top strategic priorities of the Ministry of Education and the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
Jovan Purar, Head of Legal and General Affairs of MK Group, spoke about the regional socially conscious Family Support initiative, jointly implemented by MK Group and AIK Bank.
“This year, MK Group and AIK Bank are working together to implement the Family Support project. As part of this project, we have set aside EUR 750,000 to renovate and equip over 20 preschools around the Adria region. We donated EUR 350,000 to eight Serbian preschools in the municipalities where we operate. We place a lot of importance on Vrbas because so many of our coworkers’ children attend preschool here. We have 850 employees at the Sunoko Sugar Factory and Carnex in this town. With these preschool renovations, we believe that the children here will have an opportunity to grow up in improved surroundings, with more enjoyable childhood memories. Furthermore, we are pleased to make investments in the younger generations, who will shape our future, in line with our philosophy that the best is yet to come,” said Jovan Purar.
The donation to the “Bubica” preschool building within the “Boško Buha” Preschool Institution in Vrbas included a two-story renovation that included new flooring and doors, new kid-friendly furniture for the rooms, bathroom equipment, kitchen décor, and landscaping.
“I would like to thank MK Group and AIK Bank who contributed EUR 170,000 toward the renovation of our preschools in Vrbas, as part of their socially conscious initiative. In addition to greatly assisting our staff in carrying out daily educational tasks with children, I think that this donation will improve the quality of growing up and the future for our youngest,” concluded Nebojsa Dešić, Director of the Preschool Institution in Vrbas.
Following the project’s conclusion in Serbia, the preschools in Montenegro, Slovenia, and Croatia that received donations will have their work completed the following month in honour of MK Group’s 40 years of service. By the end of the year, more than 20 preschools in the entire Adria region will be reconstructed.
