MK GROUP BRINGS THE WORLD’S LARGEST SAILING REGATTA TO PORTOROŽ

During the second week of October, this race will bring together more than 2,000 sailboats, as well as 25,000 participants, who will sail across the Gulf of Trieste. Besides the sponsorship of the main race and the awards for the best sailors, this year, Hotel Kempinski Palace Portorož will be the main sponsor of the rally regatta Go to Barcolana from Slovenia, which will begin on Saturday, October 13.

Nikola Avram, Director of the group of hotels operating within MK Group, said that the decision to support Barcolana, the world’s biggest sailing regatta and the Slovenian rally regatta Go to Barcolana from Slovenia was not difficult. He added that the main goal was to ensure that this rally regatta starts from Portorož, and that may have been a more difficult task.

He pointed out that MK Group wishes to retain the leading position in the region, as well as to develop hotel business in the most attractive locations in the Adriatic coast and the region in synergy with the other business operations of MK Group.

The tourism division is a part of MK Group for 10 years now. The portfolio includes 15 hotels within 5 hotel groups and these are already mentioned Kempinski Palace Portorož, Kempinski Hotel Adriatic in Savudrija, MK Mountain Resort in Kopaonik, Sheraton in Novi Sad, as well as a minority ownership in Budvanska Rivijera Hotel Group in Montenegro.
