11/30/2019 Novi Sad – Several thousand seedlings of new varied greenery will be erected in Novi Sad in the forthcoming period thanks to the campaign of the City of Novi Sad, which will be realized in coordination with the Council for providing professional assistance in undertaking activities of greening and afforestation of urban areas, with the support of socially responsible companies of volunteers, public figures and in accordance with the program “Green Cities” of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in which the City of Novi Sad actively participates. The company MK Group joined the event and Jovan Purar, MK Group’s Company Director, attended the event.
The campaign began with planting in Liman park, where as stated, urban planners and the most prominent professors of the Faculty of Agriculture as well as the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment, as members of the City Council were participating in the selection of seedlings and locations. They selected 172 locations for green urban spaces in the planning documents. It is planned that 6200 new trees will be planted by the end of February and over 40,000 other vegetation, followed by afforestation on the outskirts of the city. With the launch of this campaign, the City of Novi Sad started its preparations to become a candidate for the Green Capital of Europe.
